In The Word

Hi everyone...Debbie here with the “In The Word”.

I have been reading through the book of Nehemiah, and I want to reflect a little on this.

Nehemiah 1: 1-4

The words of  Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Now it happened in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Susa the citadel, that Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who escaped, who had survived the exile, and concerning Jerusalem.  And they said to me, “The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.”  As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

This just really puts things into a new perspective for me – do I mourn like this when I hear of bad things that happen to other Christians?  Do I weep for them and spend time praying and fasting before God on their behalf?  If I’m honest, I have to say no.   This makes me realize that I need to be more concerned for the problems that other Christians face, and be a prayer warrior for them..on their behalf.    I do pray when I hear of something going on...but I don’t spend a lot of time in it.  I do my praying, then I kind of go on my way and don’t think about it again.   My attitude in this area has to change.   I pray that God will grow me to be more like Him...to have a heart like His, and to hurt for what hurts Him.  To be more aware of what is going on in the world and what Christians are really facing, and stand in the gap for them.   To care more and love more, not just pray once and go on my way.

This just really challenges me....

I did up a Bible Journaling page for this:

Hope everyone has a great day!
