A New Chapter Blog Hop

Welcome everyone! It is great to have you here. We are so excited about a new chapter at SEM! We have recently added a few new design team members and we thought a blog hop would be the perfect way to introduce them. We have fabulous prizes and would love to see you all participate!

Each of the Design Team members  have created a project with the theme of starting a new chapter to show you on their blogs. Make sure that you hop along to each blog because you never know where there might be surprises somewhere along the way!

We would love to see you create a layout or mixed media project that represents a new chapter in your life. Whether you have already begun this journey or you are thinking about it, we want to know about it. Sometimes we are forced to start a new chapter for reasons that are beyond our control. Other times we have been anticipating it for a really long time. Perhaps you are only in the beginning stages of this new venture or maybe it's a life long dream and you have been held back by fear. Is your new chapter exciting or sad? Either way, others will be blessed when you share your story.
So go ahead and create this special project and link it up here before Friday October 5th, 11:59 PDT!

We can't forget our Scrap Twist!!!!
Scrap Twist: Use book pages or book text on your project...be creative!

We have a great Grand Prize!!!!
Plus many of our DT have fun RAKS for you along the hop!

Our hop grand prize has been provided by a wonderful sponsor...
Art Freckles!

Art Freckles was originally created as an online papercrafting kit company and community, but about a year and a half ago I completely switched gears and decided to focus my attention on my own passion for creating. Some of things you can find in my boutique are cards, bookmarks, coffee cozies, necklaces and bracelets, but the thing I enjoying making the most are the Art Bits papercrafting embellishments.  They are quirky and fun, and with the majority of them being self-adhesive, they are super easy to use.  There are a variety of themes from butterflies, to apples, to rabbits and calendar bits. They are the perfect page embellishment for scrapbooker's and cardmaker's, and non-papercrafters can use them as a fun way to jazz up an envelope or notebook!
I hope you all take a moment to visit Art Freckles, and see for yourself all the wonderful goodies awaiting your discovery!

Our grand prize winner will win a prize pack valued at
$25 CAD

In addition, Art Freckles is offering 15% discount to our blog hoppers on all purchases made between Sept. 28th and Oct. 5th.  The coupon code is 'SEMHOP'.  Please note however, that they are currently only shipping to Canada and the United States but have graciously offered to send international if the buyer is willing to pay the international shipping.

There are two ways to enter to win the Grand Prize.

1. Comment on all the blogs that are part of the hop and then when
When you are done, come back here and tell us that you have commented on all the blogs!

2. Create a New Chapter project and link it up here on SEM.

So get ready, get set, start hopping! Have fun and we will see you back here at the end of the hop.

The hop ends Monday October 1st  11:59pm PDT but you can continue to link up your projects until Friday October 5th 11:59pm PDT .

Guest Designer for October is....

We are announcing our guest designer for October a little early this month since we have the blog hop next weekend and our Octomer Main Challenge will go live right after that!  So are you excited to hear who it is?  It is...
Toni Herron

Toni is a very talented scrapbooker and has been a loyal follower of SEM and contributes often on the FB group!  I will let her tell you a little bit about herself...

I have just turned 26. Have a very supportive husband Mark and two beautiful boys Lane, 9 and Hunter, 2 that are the inspiration for most of my LO's.
I'm a little Scrap Addicted but don't mind at all!
I am a Christian but are not able to attend church every Sunday, however God is a big part of our lives and everyday decisions. I believe that ALL men and women are equal no matter their faith.
I am lucky enough to have enough support so that I can be a stay at home Mum and with that also came the opportunities to be heavily involved in my boys extra activities. So I'm apart ofcommittees for the local Football club, Swimming club, Speedway (dirt track racing), School P&F and another group within the school and more.

I don’t really have a “STYLE” with my Scrapbooking, so I hope there is something for everything here.

Whether my finished product ends up being very simple and basic, or way over the top, I usually fall in love with them all..
However the process of getting to that stage can sometimes be difficult as I’m well known for ripping up pages and starting again.
I live in the paradise of a little town on the beach in Queensland, Australia. And certainly would not change that for the world!
This is only my second opportunity at being a GUEST designer as I only started entering competitions outside of my local store in July. So its exciting to meet you all, feel free to drop by my blog to say G'Day and I hope you all get a little inspiration from some part of my LO's for you this month at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.

Please stop by and say hi at my blog...http://toniherron.aussieblogs.com.au/

So nice to hear a little bit about who you are, about your life and your love for scrapbooking.   Here are some of my favorite projects from Toni... she really makes it hard to choose only a few!!!!

Winners

A little late but I guess in this case late is better than never, right?  Especially for our winners :)  This is Elizabeth here to announce our August challenge winners.  I missed posting last week because my family went to visit a new addition - one of the many everyday miracles - to our family.  My sister-in-law had a beautiful baby girl - Olivia :)

Thanks for letting me brag a little :)  Before I announce the winners I want to remind you to check outSEM's Chit Chat Facebook Group  for some scrapping fun!  We would love to have you!  I'm so excited about the change in weather here and the promise of fall, so grab a cup of tea or coffee and join us for some girl time.  There is nothing more warm and comforting to me than a cup of tea, wrapped in my favorite blanket and chatting with a girlfriend!  We would love for you to share your layouts or links to your blog posts, interact with us about the latest scrapbooking tips, techniques and trends, or just bless us with your company.  We look forward to getting to know you better!

THANK YOU to each and everyone of you who participated in our August challenges!  It was so fun to see all the different places you visit for vacation and the moments that God uses to bless you and your families!  I was so encouraged by stories of fun, relaxation and refreshment - all ways that God provides the moments we need to re-energize for the days to come.    We are very grateful that you allowed us all to see into a window of your lives - this is the best part of scrapping everyday miracles!!

I put all the entries into random.org  and the winner is Jamie . . .   Congratulations Jamie!!  Please send us an e-mail at scrappingeverydaymiracles@yahoo.com to claim your $40 gift certificate to the Artful Delight Kit Club and Store!

And now it's time to announce our Top 3 choices from the August Challenge #19!  We have been so blessed by your pages and I was thrilled that we had 28 entries total in August, especially for a summer month when we are all busy with our vacations - some of the very ones you created pages about!  Thank you for participating in the challenge and don't forget about the scrap twist we always throw in :)  Remember to link up your post and not just your main blog.
(Note: The Top 3 are only chosen from the Main Challenge...)

1.   Libeeti
Libeeti's beautiful page celebrated her beach vacation. The soft blues really took us to the beach right along with her and the way she used a stencil to make a unique pattern on her page was just stunning!

2.  Tracey S.
The entire design team agreed that this page was breathtakingly beautiful!  The netting and flowers were perfect.  Tracey's story really spoke to us as well as she created this beautiful page as a gift for a special family of one of their most precious and peaceful vacations before losing their son to epilepsy.

   3.     Lydia
Lydia's page of her son on their holiday in May was beautiful.  All the little details screamed holiday, beach and fun!  The soft stencil design on the page really pulled it all together.

Congrats ladies . . . and thank you for inspiring us!!!  If you were one of our top three you are welcome to take the top 3 badge from our sidebar and display it proudly on your blog!   Many thanks everyone everyone for playing along!  We enjoy visiting your blogs or on-line photo albums and seeing all the talent you have been given!  We look forward to seeing your entries for the September's Main Challenge- Let's hear it for your boys and September's sketch challenge.
Have a wonderful weekend dear friends and may God's blessings be evident to you in your everyday miracles :)

Delighting in weakness?!

A few weeks ago Julie, a fellow SEM member, asked me if I would consider guesting on her blog for a series she's doing this month called I Spy Jesus. The series will run every Wednesday for the duration of September, and by the sounds of it there are some great women contributing, I am honoured to have been asked to join them.

I've received some very encouraging feedback regarding the post from women who were able to identify with my words.  Because the post seemed to resonate with so many I thought it would be appropriate to share it here.  Here is a little bit of my story.

When Julie asked me to join her this month, my initial thought was unfortunately one of regret, as I have felt stalled in my spiritual growth for several months now.  As I prayed about this opportunity, however I really had to take a long look at myself, my life, and my priorities and try to answer the question why am I stalled?  I hesitated to share, because in my mind people want to read stories full of faith, and success in overcoming trial.  Who wants to read about my struggle I thought.  Even as I prayed the words I got a real sense that God was saying I have a plan.  You're not the only one who struggles.  There are others who feel the same shame and regret as you.  Those are not of me.  They are the result of believing Satan's lies.  I have something more for you, I just need to you walk with me, and you will see.

A few days later SEM's very own Dolores shared this verse on our SEM Facebook Page, and I knew it was for me.  "See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert, and streams in the wasteland" Isaiah 43:19  Within days of reading that verse the Lord began to fuel a new passion within me.  He opened my eyes to become better able to recognize the multitude of ways He is moving around me, within me, and because of me...and all of it was happening IN SPITE OF ME.  Now that is amazing love.  The following are just two of the many ways I saw Jesus at work in my life just last week.

For the first time ever I shed a few tears on the girls' first day of school.  I have never done that before.  Ever, in 9 years.  I have always been so happy for them to be growing up, and experiencing new things.  The Lord showed me last Wednesday, however that the time is fleeting when they will be here, under my roof.  I have so much yet to teach them, so much more to learn from them.  I don't want to waste another minute grumbling about motherly duties, I want to welcome them because of what they imply.

The one that was the most profound was this.  Driving home from the lake after the long weekend.  I was listening to my Praise & Worship playlist, and soaking in the breath-taking beauty of the freshly plowed fields when all of a sudden these words streamed through the vehicle.

"Shine!
You're like a star.
Set apart, set apart from the start of the world.
This is your time, rise and shine.
Child, you're one of a kind.
Shine!"

All the feelings of unworthiness, and shame, and self-disappointment faded away, as these Newsboys lyrics played.  My God, my creator peeled back the curtain of Heaven to make sure I heard loud and clear, (and the best way He knew I'd recognize, through music) wants me to know He still has a plan for me.  And He wants me to life in a fashion like I believe that.  I may feel distant, but only because I've drawn away.  His is unchanging, a relentless pursuer of His children.  ["But He said to me "my grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness.  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christ's power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:9-10] I may feel distant, but I am still a star.  My light hasn't been extinguished, it's only being hidden underneath the negative feelings that aren't caused by Him.  He is calling me to shine.

I created this layout to celebrate this new chapter, 'celebrating the new thing He is doing' in my life.  I used the lyrics from the Newsboys song to remind me of my high calling every time I see the layout.

The words on the journal card are truths that I never want to forget
So there you have it.  No great, and profound words of wisdom.  Just a simple reminder that He is easier to find than any item in those Eye Spy books.  We simply need to open our eyes, and engage, with a willingness to be moved past our inclination to settle into routine and become stale.  May you be encouraged today to open His Word, and see what 'new thing' He might be waiting to show you.

So there you have it.  No great, and profound words of wisdom.  Just a simple reminder that He is easier to find than any item in those Eye Spy books.  We simply need to open our eyes, and engage, with a willingness to be moved past our inclination to settle into routine and become stale.  If your heart has been moved today, my prayer is that you will press into those feelings, and take a moment to consider how it is that your light is shining today.  Listen, and look for the ways in which God is lighting your path...and walk in it.

Be blessed friends!

Challenge #20 - Let's hear it for the boys!

Hello dear friends! It's Einat here and I'm so happy to bring you this month's challenge all the way from the hot and sunny holy land!

Each of us has a special boy or a man in our life, someone we cherish, someone we love. Let's celebrate this special someone by creating a layout dedicated to them. It can be a layout about a father, telling a story about a childhood memory, or about a husband and the special connection we have. You can share a funny story about your child or even create a layout for a friend.

In Judaism a boy is a special blessing from God, it's a confirmation of the covenant between God and Abraham that was tested When God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his son. This is why all the boys and men in our lives are not only our personal blessing, but also a reminder of a greater miracle.
So let's hear it for the boys and the great/annoying/wonderful thing they do!
Scrap twist: you must use at least two different shapes of photos on your layout. For example: square and circle, oval and star etc.

And here are the layouts our Design Team created (hover your mouse over the picture to see what each Design Team member has to say about their project).
